*This is not a comprehensive list. If you are unsure if Dynamic Mind can help, please do not hesitate to get in contact for a free and confidential discussion.

  • What kinds of people seek therapy?

There is no barrier to who can access therapeutic services. You referral will be welcome regardless of culture, gender, sexual orientation, educational status, or employment group. Dynamic Mind Therapy offers services to adults and young people aged 11 or above. If a young person is under 11 years of age, please get in contact for a free confidential discussion, as Dynamic Mind may still be able to help.

  • Does Dynamic Mind Therapy offer short or long term service?

Both- it depends upon individual circumstances and needs. Long-term, open ended therapy proceeds at the client's pace, allowing time and space for the client to gain insight into the root causes of their difficulties. Short-term therapy may be useful for clients who have a particular issue that they want to focus upon.

  • How do I make a referral to Dynamic Mind Therapy?

You can refer yourself, or someone you know if you have their permission. Make an enquiry by using the details listed on the 'Contact' page above. You can then request that a referral form be sent to you.

  • How long will I have to wait for an appointment?

Dynamic Mind aims to offer an initial consultation with a psychotherapist within 1-2 weeks, once a completed referral form has been received. However, waiting times may vary due to Dynamic Mind's resources, your own availability, and the type of service you seek.

  • How regularly will I see my therapist?

Dynamic Mind can offer weekly sessions, however this can vary depending upon individual requirements.  Life can have ups and downs, so the frequency of sessions is something that can be reviewed.

  • What can I talk to my therapist about?

Before your first session it may be helpful to prepare by writing down your reasons for seeking help. You can talk about anything that is on your mind, you may say things that you did not expect to say. A therapist is there to help you explore your feelings, thoughts, memories, regrets, everyday dilemmas, aspirations and dreams.

  • Will my therapist give me advice?

A therapist's role is not to give you advice, tell you what to do, or judge you in any way. Dynamic Mind will help you come to your own conclusions and empower you to make your own decisions.

  • Will my therapist be available for me in a crisis?

Your therapist will be available to you at your scheduled appointment time. In case of emergency you will need to seek other resources. Please contact your GP, the Samaritans (call 116 123 for free), or if necessary Emergency Services.

  • What do I do if I have a complaint about Dynamic Mind's service or therapist?

Dynamic Mind always welcomes comments about services offered. If you do have a complaint, please speak to your therapist to see if they can resolve any issues. Alternatively, you can contact the BACP in confidence (https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-therapy/ask-kathleen/).
