Hello, my name is Robyn and I have over 15 years experience working within the field of mental health and wellbeing. I am currently a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a graduate member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a Mental Health First Aider for Adults and Young People (MHFA England).
Understanding how the human mind works has always been a passion of mine, and I continually grasp the opportunity to develop my knowledge of how different psychological tools can help to alleviate an individual's difficulties.
I am able to apply my knowledge and understanding when working with clients due to my experience of working with young people and adults who expressed varied mental health, wellbeing, behavioural, relationship and attachment issues. I am also a reflective practitioner which enhances my professional work and self development.
I like to be able to apply my therapeutic knowledge in a creative way, recognising that everyone is unique, with their own story to explore.
I can adapt sessions to meet the needs of individual clients, and offer a friendly, relaxed, approach to therapy. I will encourage you to try and challenge yourself, so an open mind to therapy is welcomed.
I have worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and am experienced in establishing therapeutic relationships with my clients. By tuning into my client's needs, I adopt a confident approach to helping my clients meet their unmet needs and aspirations.
I initially completed a BSc Psychology (Hons) degree, before obtaining my masters degree, MSc Applied Psychology (Therapies). I then completed further training and hold a Diploma in Counselling Practice.
I am a specialist Psychodynamic practitioner, but have had training in other approaches. I am therefore able to utilise principals and tools from CBT, Humanistic, Existential, Person-Centred, Gestalt, and Mindfulness disciplines, when applicable to the client work.
I regularly update my training through continued professional development, and receive guidance, advice and support through supervision. I adhere to the BACP ethical guidelines, which can be accessed from www.bacp.co.uk.
I am based in the High Peak (Derbyshire), but can offer video-call or telephone therapy services to those further afield. Please email email@example.com for more information.
